Euro area construction production fell -1.7% MoM in May 2025 after a strong +4.3% MoM gain in April, but was still up a solid 2.9% YoY (down from 4.7% YoY in April).

• Building construction declined -1.3% MoM but rose 6.4% YoY.
• Civil engineering dropped -0.7% MoM and rose 2.9% YoY.
• Specialised construction activities fell -1.7% MoM and increased 1.0% YoY.
• Largest MoM declines were in Germany (-3.9%), Belgium (-2.2%), and the Netherlands (-1.8%), while Slovenia (+5.4%), Hungary (+2.5%), and Czechia (+2.3%) posted the strongest gains.
• Spain led YoY growth at +44.6%, while Poland (-4.8%), Germany (-3.4%), and France (-3.3%) saw the steepest annual drops.
