Monthly Treasury Statement: December 2025

The US Treasury reports a monthly deficit of $144.7 billion (vs $150 billion expected) in December, almost double the $86.7 billion deficit in December 2024.
- Total receipts were up 6.6% YoY to $484.4 billion, while total outlays increased 16.3% YoY to $629.1 billion.
- The YTD deficit is $602.4 billion through the first three months of FY26, down -15.3% YoY from the deficit of $710.6 billion in the first three months of FY25.
- Total customs duties in December were $27.9 billion for a total of $90.0 billion in the first three months of FY26, well above $20.8 billion in the first three months of FY25.
