UK manufacturing output volumes declined with a net balance of -23 in the three months to June 2025, nearly matching May’s -25 reading, though firms expect the pace of decline to ease to -5 in the next three months.
- Total order books weakened further to -33 (from -30 and below -27 forecast), remaining well below the long-run average of -14.
- Export order books held steady at -26 (vs -29 in May), still below the long-run average of -18.
- Output fell in 14 of 17 sub-sectors, led by chemicals, metal products, and mechanical engineering.
- Selling price expectations eased to +19 (from +26 in May), but remain elevated above the long-run average of +7.
- Stock adequacy dipped, with finished goods inventories at +6 (from +10), below the long-run average of +12.
