New light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations fell -14.9% YoY in April to 20,332 units, marking the fifth straight monthly decline and the weakest April since 2020.

  • Registrations of large vans (>2.5–3.5T) dropped -22.9% YoY, while mid-sized and small vans declined -5.8% and -5.5%, respectively.
  • Pickups rose 10.2% YoY and 4x4s surged 19.2% YoY, likely ahead of April’s double-cab tax changes.
  • New battery electric van (BEV) registrations jumped 77.5% YoY to 1,686 units, now 8.3% of the market, still well below the 16% 2025 mandate.
  • Industry warns tax changes and slow grid connection timelines risk stalling decarbonization progress.
