EU new car registrations were up 1.6% YoY in May, slightly higher than 1.3% YoY growth in April. On a YTD basis, registrations are down -0.6% YoY.

• BEV sales rose 25% YoY in May and reached 701,089 units YTD (+43.2% in Germany, +26.7% in Belgium, +6.7% in the Netherlands; -7.1% in France).
• Hybrid-electric vehicles reached 1.6 million units YTD (+38.3% France, +34.9% Spain, +13.8% Italy, +12.1% Germany), holding a 35.1% market share.
• Plug-in hybrid registrations grew +46.9% YoY in May to 375,182 units YTD (8.2% share), with strong growth in Germany (+52.8%) and Spain (+66.6%).
• Petrol car sales dropped -18.6% YoY and-20.2% YTD (28.6% market share), with steep declines in France (-34.3%) and Germany (-26.1%).
• Diesel registrations declined 27.6% YoY and -26.6% YTD to a 9.5% market share.
