Drewry World Container Index: Week of April 10th
The Drewry World Container Index increased 3% WoW last week to $2,265, the second straight weekly increase.
- However, the index was 59% higher than the pre-pandemic average $1,420 in 2019.
- Increases were seen in routes across the board with the largest in the Shanghai-Rotterdam route (+4% WoW) and the Shanghai-LA route (+3% WoW).
- In the coming weeks, Drewry expects rates to increase due to tariffs and reduced capacity.
