US Electric Vehicle Sales Report: Q2 2025
U.S. electric vehicle (EV) sales totaled 310,839 units in Q2 2025, down -6.3% YoY but up 4.9% QoQ, bringing H1 sales to a record 607,089, a modest 1.5% increase YoY.
- Incentives surged to a record 14.8% of average transaction price (~$8,500) in June, ahead of the October phase-out of federal EV subsidies.
- GM more than doubled its H1 EV sales YoY to 78,000 units, boosting its market share to 12.9% and overtaking Ford and Hyundai.
- Tesla’s sales fell -12% YoY in Q2 after a -9% decline in Q1, dragging its EV market share down to 44.7%.
- Used EV sales hit a record >100,000 units in Q2, with momentum building despite the removal of federal used EV incentives.
- Full-year 2025 EV sales projections have been lowered to 8.5% of total U.S. auto sales, with volumes now expected to be flat YoY.
