The MTSI Manufacturing PMI Composite Index edged down to -0.31 in August, down from -0.22 in July, suggesting a slight decline in manufacturing activity, with all PMIs reported.
- The Shipments index continued to rebound, now at just -0.05 in August, up from -0.17 in July.
- The New Orders index also pointed to a rebound in demand, bouncing from -0.44 in July to -0.09 in August.
- The Employment index nudged up to -0.34 in August after some weaker readings in the last few months.
- Price pressures persist as the Prices Paid index increased to 0.96, the highest since June 2022, and the Prices Received index reversed the recent easing, up to 0.92 in August from 0.81 in July.
