Australia Employment: April 2025
Australia’s employment increased by 89k (vs 20k expected), up 0.6% MoM, to 14,622,100 in April 2025, with the unemployment rate remaining steady at 4.1% (vs 4.1% expected).
- The participation rate increased 0.3 ppts to 67.1%, above expectations of participation remaining unchanged at 66.8%.
- Full-time employment increased by 11,700 to 10,063,700 people, while part-time employment increased by 14,600 to 4,558,300 people.
- The number of unemployed people increased by 6,300, or 1.0% MoM, to 618,600.
- Monthly hours worked was basically unchanged at 1 million, still up 1.1% YoY.
