US job openings increased 259k to 8.1 million in November, above expectations of a decline to 7.7 million. The job openings rate increased 0.1 ppts to 4.8%. the highest since June, but is down -0.6 ppts to 5.4%. The private job openings rate also increased 0.1 ppts to 5.0%. Total hires fell -125k to 5.3 million, and total separations fell -180k to 5.1 million.

Total quits declined -218k to 3.1 million, and the quits rate dropped -0.2 ppts to 1.9%. The private quits rate fell -0.2 ppts to 2.1%, the lowest since June 2020 and below pre-pandemic quits rates.
