Spain’s retail sales fell -0.2% MoM but were up 3.6% YoY in March, unchanged from the annual rate in February.

• Non-food sales were down -0.7% MoM while food sales increased only 0.5% MoM.
• Gas sales were unchanged on a monthly basis. When excluding gas sales, retail sales were up 0.2% MoM.
• Retail employment increased 0.4% MoM and 1.0% YoY with the strongest increases in staffing seen in small chain stores (+0.5% MoM) and department stores (+0.7% MoM).
