Total UK public sector net borrowing was £10.7 billion in February, above expectations of just £6.6 billion of net borrowing.

• Total spending was £3.8 billion above a year ago at £107.6 billion.
• Total receipts were £3.7 billion above a year ago at £96.9 billion.
• Public sector net debt excluding public sector banks was 95.5% of GDP at the end of February 2025; this was 0.1 ppts more than at the end of February 2024 and remains at levels last seen in the early 1960s.
