S&P Global UK Consumer Sentiment Index: June 2025
The S&P UK Consumer Sentiment Index edged down slightly to 45.0 in June from 45.2 in May, a 2-month low, as high inflation and job insecurity continued to weigh on UK household confidence.
- The Spending Sentiment Index fell to 37.4 (from 38.2), with cash availability dropping to a 15-month low of 38.3.
- Job security declined to 49.2 (from 50.9), marking a 5-month low, while overall Labour Market Sentiment dipped to 52.0.
- The Debt Sentiment Index dropped to 48.8, its lowest in 10 months, despite rising credit demand (Need for unsecured credit rose to 51.8).
- The Household Finance Index rose to 43.5, a 6-month high, but expectations for future finances ticked down to 45.9.
- The Savings Index improved slightly to 43.2, though savings drawdowns remained weak in 2025.
