Loan volume growth in the Dallas Fed region accelerated substantially from -4.4 in the previous reading to 16.0 in December. This reflected a renewed upturn in loan demand with that index jumping 19.7 pts to 10.8.

Current and future loan demand growth was the strongest since early 2022. Loan volumes improved broadly across commercial & industrial loans, commercial real estate, residential real estate, and to a lesser extent consumer loans.
