Highlight of the month

Net electricity production in OECD Europe was higher in most months of 2025 compared with 2024, with the exceptions of April and August. Hydro output declined year‑on‑year in every month except December, while wind generation saw pronounced decreases from January through April. These shortfalls contributed to higher generation from natural gas, coal, and solar over the same period. Wind output turned positive for most of the remainder of the year, aside from December. Solar generation remained consistently above 2024 levels throughout the entire year.
