India’s auto industry produced 2,693,049 vehicles in August 2025, while domestic sales showed mixed performance across segments, with passenger vehicles down but two-wheelers and three-wheelers higher YoY.

• Passenger vehicle sales were 321,840 units in August 2025, down -8.8% YoY, reflecting reduced dispatches by manufacturers.

• Without Tata Motors, passenger vehicle sales would have been 280,839 units.

• Three-wheeler sales reached 75,759 units, up 8.3% YoY, marking the strongest August on record for this segment.

• Two-wheeler sales totaled 1,833,921 units, a 7.1% YoY increase, showing continued resilience in the mass-market segment.

• Total industry production, covering passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, and quadricycles, stood at 2,693,049 units in August 2025.
