Total manufacturing sales in Canada increased 0.2% MoM in February, up from the preliminary estimate of -0.2% MoM.

• The level of sales following the rise was the highest since September 2023 as sales increased in 11/21 subsectors.
• The subsectors with the largest increases were the primary metal (+8.3%) and chemical product (+6.7%) subsectors.
• Sales in the petroleum and coal product subsector fell -5.2% MoM, following four consecutive monthly increases. This decline was driven by lower demand and, to a lesser extent, lower prices, as sales on a constant dollar basis decreased -4.2% MoM.
• Total manufacturing inventories rose 0.8% to $122.0 billion in February, reaching the highest level since January 2024.
• The capacity utilization rate for the total manufacturing sector decreased from 78.7% in January to 77.3% in February.
