France Business Climate Indicator: June 2025

France’s business climate edged up 0.5 pts to 96.1 in June, slightly below expectations of a 97 reading.

  • The manufacturing index fell -1.2 pts to 95.9, as personal production expectations declined and finished goods inventories rose. Overall order books contracted at the sharpest rate in 3 months.
  • The services index edged up +0.6 pts to 95.6, supported by improved demand and workforce expectations.
  • The construction index slipped -1 pt to 100, now aligned with its long-term average, due to weaker expected activity.
  • The retail trade index rose +1 pt to 99, driven by stronger ordering intentions.
  • The employment climate rebounded +3 pts to 97, led by improved hiring expectations in services (excluding temp work).
