India Auto Industry Performance: June 2025
India’s total auto production reached 2,364,868 units in June 2025. Domestic sales for the month included 312,849 passenger vehicles, 61,828 three-wheelers, and 1,559,851 two-wheelers.
- Q1 FY25-26 passenger vehicle sales totaled 1.01 million units, down -1.4% YoY, though UVs grew 3.8% YoY and now make up 66% of the segment.
- Two-wheeler sales fell -6.2% YoY in Q1, but retail registrations rose 5% due to festive demand; scooter share increased by 2.15 pp YoY.
- Three-wheeler sales hit a Q1 record at 165,000 units (+0.1% YoY); exports surged 34.4% YoY to 96,000 units.
- Commercial vehicle sales declined -0.6% YoY in Q1, though exports rose 23.4% YoY.
- Industry outlook for Q2 is cautiously optimistic, supported by festive demand, RBI rate cuts, and strong rural recovery, though supply risks from China’s export curbs on rare earths remain a concern.
