FAO Food Price Index: June 2025
The FAO Food Price Index rose +0.5% MoM to 128.0 in June 2025, up 5.8% YoY, as increases in dairy, meat, and vegetable oils outweighed declines in cereals and sugar.
- The Cereal Price Index fell -1.5% MoM and -6.8% YoY, with maize, sorghum, and barley prices down; wheat rose on weather concerns.
- The Vegetable Oil Index rose +2.3% MoM and +18.2% YoY, driven by palm, soy, and rapeseed oil; sunflower oil declined.
- The Meat Price Index increased +2.1% MoM and +6.7% YoY, reaching a record high; poultry prices fell but other meats rose.
- The Dairy Price Index rose +0.5% MoM and +20.7% YoY, with butter prices hitting a record high amid tight global supply.
- The Sugar Price Index dropped -5.2% MoM and is now at its lowest since April 2021 due to improved supply prospects in Brazil, India, and Thailand.
