Euro area retail sales eased -0.3% MoM in January, below the estimate of an 0.1% MoM increase. The annual increase was 1.5% YoY, also below the estimate of 1.9% YoY.

• Food sales were up by 0.6% MoM.
• Non-food sales fell -0.7% MoM, and auto fuel sales fell -0.3% MoM.
• On an annual basis, food sales were up 1.4% YoY, and non-food sales were up 1.8% YoY (the lowest since July 2024).
