Drewry World Container Index: Week of May 1st
The Drewry World Container Index fell -3% WoW to $2,091 last week, a new two year low, but still 47% higher than the pre-pandemic average of $1,420.
- The largest declines this week were in European-China routes: the Shanghai-Rotterdam rate fell -5% WoW and the reverse route rate fell -4% WoW.
- The only route with an increase in rates was NY-Rotterdam, up 2% WoW.
- Drewry expects rates to continue declining in the coming week due to uncertainty stemming from reciprocal tariffs.
