U.S. ETF assets under management reached a record $13 trillion in October. Last month’s inflows are the highest for the year at $169.5 billion and 20% higher than the September inflow results. That brings the year-to-date inflows total to $1.11 trillion. October launches also set a record with 137 new ETFs.

U.S. ETF assets under management increased to $12.7 trillion in September from $12.3 trillion in August. September recorded inflows of $141.2 billion, the highest for the year and up 19.8% from $117.8 billion the prior month, taking the year-to-date total to $925.4 billion. September saw 115 new ETFs launched.

U.S. ETF assets under management increased to $12.25 trillion in August from $11.88 trillion in July. August recorded inflows of $117.8 billion, up 1.5% from $116 billion in July, taking the year-to-date total to $786.3 billion. At this rate, it appears U.S. ETFs are on track to outpace the $1.1 trillion in new assets attracted last year. August saw 74 new ETFs launched.

U.S. ETF assets under management showed a small increase over June’s numbers, reaching $11.88 trillion in July. Monthly inflows rose 12.6% from June to $116 billion, bringing the year-to-date total flows to $683.3 billion. With 111 launches, July saw the same staggeringly high number of new ETFs as June. (The average number of launches per month in 2024 was 60.)

U.S. ETF assets under management increased to $11.05 trillion in May. Monthly inflows rose 25% from April, reaching $87.7 billion, bringing the year-to-date total to $465 billion. ETF launches slowed in May, with only 52 new funds introduced. However, YTD launches are still well ahead of 2024 levels.

Despite a volatile month, U.S. ETF assets under management increased slightly to $10.48 trillion. Inflows continued, albeit at a low level relative to recent history, with $63.7 billion in April for a year-to-date total of $371 billion. A total of 73 ETFs launched, fewer than any month in the previous quarter.Total inflows for April totaled $63.7 billion, down 28% from March.
- Many asset classes had lower flows, with equities down 28% and fixed income down 48%.
- Currency funds had $4.2 billion of inflows, reversing last month’s $978 million outflow, and alternatives took in $805 million after March outflows of $13 million.

At the end of March, U.S.-listed ETFs had over $10.4 trillion of assets under management. Inflows were $88.3 billion in March, raising the year-to-date total to $306.5 billion. ETFs also continue to break records for the number of funds to launch, with a total of 89 in March. This makes 245 for the first quarter of 2025, compared to 148 in the first quarter of 2024. This is a 66% increase year-over-year.
