Spain’s retail sales rose 1.1% MoM and 6.2% YoY in June 2025 (seasonally and calendar adjusted), with annual growth accelerating by 1.2 points from May.
- Both food and non-food product sales increased 1.2% MoM.
- Retail sales excluding service stations also rose 1.1% MoM.
- Small chain stores posted the largest MoM gain at 2.5%; e-commerce sales declined -0.6% MoM.
- Retail employment rose 2.1% YoY, continuing steady labor market strength in the sector.

Spain’s retail sales rose 0.2% MoM and 4.8% YoY in May, with annual growth accelerating from 4.1% YoY in April.
- Non-food product sales increased 0.6% MoM, while food sales fell -0.2% MoM.
- Retail sales excluding service stations rose 0.2% MoM; service station sales were also up 0.2% MoM.
- E-commerce led gains with a 0.5% MoM increase; department store sales were flat (0.0% MoM).
- Retail employment rose 1.4% YoY, continuing its upward trend.
- The unadjusted YoY retail index rose 5.0%, up 1.3 points from April.

Spain’s retail sales rose 0.7% MoM and 4.0% YoY in April on a seasonally and calendar adjusted basis, with growth broad-based across store types but dragged by falling online sales.
- Non-food product sales rose 0.9% MoM, while food sales were up 0.4% MoM.
- Retail sales excluding service stations increased 0.5% MoM. Service station sales were especially strong, up 2.2% MoM.
- E-commerce sales declined -1.6% MoM, the only category to register a monthly drop.
- Retail employment rose 0.5% MoM and 1.2% YoY, continuing a steady upward trend.

Spain’s retail sales fell -0.2% MoM but were up 3.6% YoY in March, unchanged from the annual rate in February.
- Non-food sales were down -0.7% MoM while food sales increased only 0.5% MoM.
- Gas sales were unchanged on a monthly basis. When excluding gas sales, retail sales were up 0.2% MoM.
- Retail employment increased 0.4% MoM and 1.0% YoY with the strongest increases in staffing seen in small chain stores (+0.5% MoM) and department stores (+0.7% MoM).

Spain’s retail sales were up 1.3% MoM and 3.6% YoY in February, up from 2.3% YoY in January.
- Food sales were up 0.6% MoM and non-food sales were up 1.6% MoM.
- Excluding gas station sales, retail sales were up 0.7% MoM as gas sales were up 0.4% MoM.
- Retail employment fell -0.6% MoM but was still up 1.3% YoY.

Spain’s retail sales fell -1.4% MoM in January, the largest monthly decline since December 2023, and on an annual basis were up 2.2% YoY, down from 4.0% YoY in December.
- Ex gas stations, retail sales were still down -1.4% MoM as gas station sales fell -0.4% MoM.
- The decline was led by non-food sales down -2.0% MoM. Food sales were only down -0.1% MoM.
- Department stores noted a large decline in sales of -1.7% MoM.
- Retail employment was down -1.7% MoM in January but up 1.4% YoY

Spanish retail sales grew 1.5% MoM and 4.0% YoY (vs 0.5% YoY) in December. This is the joint highest annual rate in almost two years, and the monthly rate was the strongest since November 2023. Food sales were up 1.0% MoM, and non-food sales were up 2.2% MoM. Gas station sales were also up strongly at 1.7% MoM.

Spanish retail sales fell -0.6% MoM and were up just 1.0% YoY in November, below the 2.8% YoY expected and the smallest annual increase since June. The monthly drop was the weakest growth since December 2023. Both food and non-food sales were weak, down -0.7% MoM and -0.8% MoM respectively.
