Registered unemployment in Spain fell by -1,357 people (-0.06% MoM) in July to 2.40 million, the lowest July level since 2007, down -145.6k (-5.71% YoY), and the 6th straight monthly decline.
- Youth unemployment dropped -2,561 (-1.54% MoM) to 164,146, the lowest level for July on record, extending a 51-month YoY decline streak.
- Female unemployment declined by -901 (-0.06% MoM) to 1.46 million, while male unemployment fell by -456 (-0.05% MoM) to 944.6k; both are at multi-year lows.
- Unemployment fell in 6 regions, led by Andalusia (-8,035), while Catalonia (+4,339) saw the largest increase among 11 regions with rising joblessness.
- 1.59 million contracts were signed in July, of which 609.9k (38.4%) were permanent; year-to-date hiring rose +0.89% YoY.
- The unemployment benefit coverage rate rose to 76.8% in June (+8.2ppts YoY), with 1.73 million people receiving benefits.
