The OECD Consumer Barometer saw a slight increase in December of +0.03, the first since July.
- G7 sentiment improved 0.07 in December, the first increase since July and the strongest since June.
- The improvement in US sentiment drove the increases in OECD and G7 sentiment, rising 0.15 in December after many months of weakening.
- OECD Europe sentiment was once again unchanged and hasn’t moved much since May.
The OECD Consumer Barometer was unchanged in November, ending a streak of three straight monthly declines.
- G7 sentiment declined -0.11% MoM in October, the fourth straight decline due to the US being a heavier weight.

The OECD Consumer Barometer edged down for the third straight month, down -0.03% MoM in October, due to persistent weakness in the US.

- OECD Europe sentiment remains mostly stable, rising 0.06% MoM after a drop of -0.04% MoM.
The OECD Consumer Barometer edged down -0.10% MoM in September, the second straight decline, driven by weak US sentiment.
- Sentiment in the G7 economies fell -0.12% MoM, also the second straight decline.
- The decline in OECD and G7 sentiment was driven by a -0.24% MoM drop in US consumer sentiment.
- OECD Europe consumer sentiment remains largely unchanged, as the index has remained flat on a monthly basis for four consecutive months.
The OECD Consumer Barometer edged down -0.08% MoM in August, the first decline since April.
- Sentiment in the G7 economies fell -0.15% MoM, also the first decline since April.
- The slight decline in OECD and G7 sentiment was driven by a -0.28% MoM drop in US consumer sentiment.
- OECD consumer sentiment has been mostly flat for the last three months and was down just -0.02% MoM in August.
The OECD Consumer Barometer increased 0.34% MoM in June, the largest monthly increase since December 2023.
- The large OECD increase was driven by sentiment in the US up 0.68% MoM, the largest since January 2024.
- The G7 index increased 0.40% MoM, also driven by the strong US increase.
- Sentiment gains in OECD Europe were smaller, up just 0.03% MoM in June.
The OECD Consumer Barometer improved to 0.16 in May from -0.28 in April, its highest level since January 2024 and the first positive reading since October 2024.
- The G7 index rose 46 bps to 0.12, rebounding from four straight monthly declines.
- OECD Europe saw an increase of 41 bps to 0.19, the highest since November 2023.
- US consumer confidence stabilized at 0.00, the highest so far in 2025.
- Despite the May rebound, most regions remain below late-2024 levels, reflecting lingering global consumer uncertainty.
The OECD Consumer Barometer dropped to -0.30 in April from the upwardly revised reading of -0.26 in March, the lowest since June 2022.
- The G7 Consumer Barometer improved about 4 bps to -0.34 but was still at the lowest since June 2022.
- The US index improved after dropping five consecutive months, increasing about 23 bps to -0.33.
- The OECD Europe index continued to drop, down -20 bps to -0.24, the lowest since September 2022.
The OECD Consumer Barometer reading was -0.30 in March, down from -0.17 in February, the lowest since June 2022.
- Similarly, the G7 Consumer Barometer fell to -0.42, the lowest since June 2022.
- The US Consumer Barometer fell to -0.62, the lowest since May 2024 and a nearly -89 bps swing since the end of 2024.
