  The early reading of the MTSI Manufacturing PMI Composite Index improved to -0.38 in July, thanks to a rebound in the Philadelphia and New York Fed Manufacturing PMIs.

  • The Shipment index saw jumped from -0.64 to -0.05 as activity improved in response to demand improving towards more normal conditions (up from -0.84 to -0.38).
  • Employment remind slightly negative at -0.27, but the index has improved towards the highs of 2025.
  • Both input and output price pressures intensified as Prices Paid and Prices Received were both at least 1 standard deviation above the mean.

  • The New Orders index rebounded strongly in May, but has given back those gains in June.
  • Employment also improved in May to near the historical average at -0.15, but June employment readings have weakened once again.
  • The Prices Paid index dropped slightly from a near term peak of 0.86 in April to 0.76 in June.
  • The Prices Received index had cooled according to earlier PMIs, but with all data reported, the index increased to 1.06, the highest since August 2022.
