MBA Mortgage Applications: Week of March 6th 2026-03-11 07:00
The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index increased 11.0% WoW as mortgage rates remained at the 3.5-year low set last week.
- The Purchase Index increased 6.7% WoW, and the Refinance Index jumped 14.3% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate was unchanged at 6.09%.

The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index edged up 0.4% WoW last week despite mortgage rates dropping to a 3.5-year low.
- The Purchase Index fell -4.7% WoW, and the Refinance Index increased 4.1% WoW.
- The total number of purchase applications fell -0.9% WoW but was still up 12.4% YoY, and the total number of refinance applications increased 4.1% WoW and was up by more than 150% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate dropped -8 bps to 6.09%, and the 15-year fixed mortgage rate dropped -2 bps to 5.48%.

- The Purchase Index fell -2.7% WoW, and the Refinance Index increased 7.1% WoW.
- The total number of purchase applications increased by 2.6% WoW and were up 8.2% YoY, and the total number of refinance applications increased 7.1% WoW and surged 131.8% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate fell -4 bps to 6.17%, and the 15-year fixed mortgage rate dropped -15 bps to 5.50%.

- The Purchase Index fell -2.4% WoW, and the Refinance Index increased 1.2% WoW.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate was unchanged at 6.21% but still down -74 bps from a year ago.
The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index fell -8.9% WoW last week, another week of significant easing as purchasing activity cooled.
- The Purchase Index dropped -14.4% WoW, and the Refinance Index fell -4.7% WoW.
- The total number of purchase applications increased by 2.1% WoW but were up just 4.4% YoY, and the total number of refinance applications increased 5.9% WoW (a smaller increase than is seasonally normal).
- The 30-year fixed mortgage and 15-year fixed mortgage rate both edged down -3 bps to 6.21% and 5.61%, respectively.

The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index fell 8.5% WoW last week, a sharp decline driven by higher mortgage rates.
- The Purchase Index was mostly unchanged over the week, down -0.4% WoW, but the Refinance Index dropped -15.7% WoW.
- Total purchasing applications fell -3.9% WoW but were still up 17.7% YoY, and total refinancing applications dropped -24.2% WoW but were still up 155.8% YoY.

The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index surged 28.5% WoW last week as mortgage rates continued to decline, reaching close to a 1.5 year low.
- The Purchase Index was up 15.9% WoW, and the Refinance Index shot up 40.1% WoW to the highest level since October 2025.
- Total purchase applications increased 51.1% WoW and 12.8% YoY, while total refinance applications increased 75.2% WoW and 128.1% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate dropped -7 bps to 6.18%, the lowest since mid-September 2024.

- The total number of purchase applications dropped -5.9% WoW but was still up 15.8% YoY, and the total number of refinance applications dropped -5.6% WoW but was up 110.1% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate eased -7 bps to 6.31% (lowest since the last week of October), and the 15-year fixed mortgage rate edged down -2 bps to 5.70%.

The MBA Mortgage Applications Composite Index fell -3.8% WoW last week as mortgage rates ticked up for the second straight week.
- The Purchase Index fell -2.8% WoW, and the Refinance Index also fell -3.6% WoW.
- The total number of purchase applications was down -6.6% WoW but up 13.0% YoY, and the total number of refinance applications dropped -3.6% WoW but surged 86.0% YoY.
- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate increased 5 bps to 6.38%, and the 15-year fixed mortgage rate was up just 1 bps to 5.72%.
