France’s industrial production fell -1.1% MoM (vs -1.8% MoM expected) in July 2025 (after +3.7% in June), with manufacturing output down -1.7% MoM but still +1.3% YoY, reflecting a sharp pullback in transport equipment after June’s surge.
- Transport equipment output slumped -10.7% MoM after +16.3% in June, mainly due to aerospace construction; YoY growth remained strong at +10.5%.
- Machinery and equipment goods declined -2.2% MoM (vs +3.9% in June) but were up +0.6% YoY.

- Manufacturing production increased 0.6% MoM but is still down -1.0% YoY.
- Transport equipment manufacturing (+3.1% MoM) and energy product production (+9.6% MoM) were the two segments that drove the March gain.
- Food production (-0.3% MoM) and machinery production (-0.6% MoM) were the weakest segments.
- Construction production was also weak, down -0.9% MoM and -4.0% YoY.
- Industries that are energy-intensive were noticeably weak like iron and steel and basic chemicals, down -29.9% and -16.7% from 2021 levels, respectively.

- Manufacturing production jumped 1.4% MoM but was still down -1.9% YoY.
- Capital goods production increased 2.1% MoM, and intermediate goods production was up 1.6% MoM.
- Transport equipment production jumped 3.2% MoM, still down -5.7% YoY.
- Consumer goods production was also on the incline last month: durables up 1.0% MoM and non-durables up 0.8% MoM.

- Manufacturing production fell -0.7% MoM and was down -2.1% YoY.
- Energy product and machinery production were notably weak at -1.7% MoM and -1.9% MoM respectively.
- Transport equipment manufacturing only bounced back 0.8% MoM after a -5.7% YoY decline in January, now down -7.4% YoY.

French industrial production fell -0.4% MoM in December, below expectations of a -0.1% MoM decline. On a quarterly basis, production is down -0.6% QoQ and, on an annual basis, down -1.2% YoY.
- Manufacturing production fell at a steeper pace of -0.7% MoM and is down -1.9% YoY.
- Transport equipment production fell -5.4% YoY, the main drag on the headline index, as motor vehicle manufacturing crashed -11.0% MoM for a weak annual rate of -16.5% YoY.
- Another index that was a major drag was basic metals and fabricated metal products, down -0.7% MoM and -4.2% YoY.
- Offsetting the weakness was a 2.8% MoM increase in food product & beverage production.

French industrial production increased 0.2% MoM (vs 0.0% MoM expected) in November after two months of declines and was down -0.9% YoY. Manufacturing production was up 0.2% MoM but down -1.4% YoY.

Manufacturing of transport equipment saw a strong 3.8% MoM increase but was ultimately still weak compared to last year, down -5.3% YoY. Broadly, other sectors saw low to no growth or a deterioration in production, especially food products (-0.7% MoM) and machinery (-0.7% MoM).
