French business births rose +0.5% MoM in May 2025, slowing from +4.0% MoM in April, with conventional business creation up +1.1% and micro-entrepreneur registrations flat at +0.1%.
- Over the past twelve months, business births rose +0.5% YoY, driven by companies (+3.4%) and micro-entrepreneurs (+1.6%), while conventional sole proprietorships fell -13.2%.
- Trade sector births rose +4.9% MoM, while transportation and construction saw sharp declines of -5.6% and -4.3% respectively.
- Over the March–May period, transportation and storage led YoY gains with +3,900 additional births (+19.3%), offset partly by construction (-2,500).
- Business births in education, health, and social work rose +3.1% MoM, and household services rebounded +1.9% MoM after a slight decline in April.
