The euro area unemployment rate edged down to 6.3% in November 2025 (-0.1 ppt MoM; +0.1 ppt YoY), dropping the jobless rate back to the lowest since April 2025.

The EU unemployment rate held at 6.0% in November (flat MoM; +0.2 ppts YoY), pointing to broadly stable labor market conditions across the bloc.

Total unemployment stood at 13.225 million in the EU and 10.937 million in the euro area, reflecting a -97k MoM decline in the EU and a -71k MoM decline in the euro area.

Compared with November 2024, unemployment increased by +416k in the EU and +253k in the euro area, indicating higher joblessness on a year-over-year basis despite recent monthly declines.

Youth unemployment rates fell slightly, to 15.1% in the EU (Oct: 15.2%) and 14.6% in the euro area (Oct: 14.8%), signaling modest near-term improvement for younger workers.

Youth unemployment levels declined -44k MoM in the EU and -42k MoM in the euro area but rose +24k YoY in the EU and +11k YoY in the euro area.

By sex, EU unemployment rates were unchanged at 6.2% for women and 5.8% for men, while in the euro area women’s unemployment eased to 6.5% (-0.1 ppt MoM) and men’s rate held steady at 6.1%.
