Euro area construction output rose +0.5% MoM in July 2025 (EU: +0.6% MoM) after falling in June, and was up +3.2% YoY (EU: +3.6% YoY), reflecting broad annual strength across sectors.
- In the euro area, building construction fell -1.4% MoM, while civil engineering rose +0.5% MoM and specialised construction activities gained +1.2% MoM.
- In the EU, building construction declined -1.3% MoM, but civil engineering increased +0.7% MoM and specialised activities rose +0.8% MoM.
- Romania (+20.1% MoM), Slovenia (+9.9% MoM), and Belgium (+2.2% MoM) posted the strongest monthly growth, while Spain (-4.5% MoM), Sweden (-4.0% MoM), and Portugal (-1.5% MoM) saw notable declines.
- On a YoY basis, euro area building construction rose +3.3%, civil engineering +3.4%, and specialised activities +2.8%.
- In the EU, annual growth was broad-based, with building construction up +3.6%, civil engineering +2.9%, and specialised activities +2.7%.
- Romania (+41.1% YoY), Spain (+22.8% YoY), and Slovenia (+21.4% YoY) led annual growth, while Sweden (-4.5% YoY), Austria (-2.7% YoY), France (-1.7% YoY), and Germany (-1.2% YoY) recorded declines.

Euro area construction production fell -0.8% MoM in June 2025 (EU: -0.5% MoM) after a larger drop in May, but was still up 1.7% YoY (EU: +1.9% YoY).
- Building construction declined -1.8% MoM in the euro area and -1.6% MoM in the EU, while civil engineering rose +0.5% MoM in the euro area but fell -0.1% MoM in the EU.
- Specialised construction activities slipped -0.2% MoM in the euro area but edged up +0.3% MoM in the EU.
- Spain (-5.6% MoM), Hungary (-5.3% MoM), and Slovenia (-3.7% MoM) saw the sharpest monthly declines, while Slovakia (+5.3% MoM), Romania (+4.5% MoM), and Poland (+3.2% MoM) posted gains.
- On a YoY basis, euro area building construction rose +3.3%, civil engineering +2.9%, and specialised activities +0.9%.
- Spain led YoY growth at +31.4%, followed by Czechia (+14.0%) and Slovakia (+9.8%), while France (-5.1%), Austria (-5.0%), and Germany (-2.5%) recorded notable annual declines.

Euro area construction production fell -1.7% MoM in May 2025 after a strong +4.3% MoM gain in April, but was still up a solid 2.9% YoY (down from 4.7% YoY in April).
- Building construction declined -1.3% MoM but rose 6.4% YoY.
- Civil engineering dropped -0.7% MoM and rose 2.9% YoY.
- Specialised construction activities fell -1.7% MoM and increased 1.0% YoY.
- Largest MoM declines were in Germany (-3.9%), Belgium (-2.2%), and the Netherlands (-1.8%), while Slovenia (+5.4%), Hungary (+2.5%), and Czechia (+2.3%) posted the strongest gains.
- Spain led YoY growth at +44.6%, while Poland (-4.8%), Germany (-3.4%), and France (-3.3%) saw the steepest annual drops.

Euro area construction production rose 1.7% MoM and 3.0% YoY in April, rebounding from a small monthly decline in March.
- Civil engineering in the euro area fell -0.2% MoM but increased 3.3% YoY.
- Specialised construction activities rose 1.7% MoM and 2.4% YoY.
- Construction of buildings increased 0.9% MoM and 1.7% YoY.
- Among member states, the largest MoM gains were in Hungary (+5.3%), Spain (+4.3%), and Slovenia (+4.0%), while Czechia (-5.0%) posted the steepest decline.
- On a YoY basis, Spain (+14.7%), Bulgaria (+7.0%), and Belgium (+6.6%) led growth; Slovenia (-5.9%) and Poland (-4.3%) saw the largest contractions.

- Civil engineering activity increased 4.1% MoM and 0.8% YoY, the strongest performing segment.
- Building construction rose 0.9% MoM but fell -2.9% YoY.
- Specialised construction activities were up 0.1% MoM and 1.0% YoY.
- The largest MoM gains were in Austria (+5.9%), Romania (+4.6%), and Czechia (+3.5%), while Portugal (-4.3%), Slovenia (-4.0%), and Poland (-3.7%) posted the steepest declines.

- Building construction activity fell -2.2% MoM and 3.4% YoY.
- Civil engineering activity fell -1.3% MoM and -2.7% YoY.
- Special construction activities were down -0.1% MoM and up 0.7% YoY.
- The lowest monthly increases were in Slovenia (-4.0%), Germany (-3.2%) and Poland (-2.3%).
- The largest monthly increases were in Portugal (+2.9%), France (+1.5%) and Sweden (+1.3%).

- Civil engineering production fell -1.0% MoM but was up 0.9% YoY.

Euro area construction production was unchanged in December after a 0.6% MoM increase in November. On an annual basis, construction production fell -0.1% YoY, down from 0.3% YoY previously.
- Building construction fell -0.1% MoM, and specialized construction fell -0.2% MoM. Civil engineering saw no change.
- The average construction production in 2024 was -0.9% lower than the 2023 average.

Euro area construction production increased to the highest level in over four years in November, up 1.2% MoM and 1.4% YoY. Building construction (+0.3% MoM) and civil engineering (+0.5% MoM) saw slight increases while specialized construction was boosted by a stronger 1.2% MoM rate. Slovenia (+9.5%), Slovakia (+5.4%) and Romania (+4.7%) saw the largest monthly increases with several larger economies, Spain (+1.0% MoM), Italy (+2.6% MoM), and Germany (+2.1% MoM) seeing their own robust gains.

Euro area construction production increased 1.0% MoM and 0.2% YoY in October. Building construction activity increased 0.7% MoM, and civil engineering activity increased 1.6% MoM. The annual increases in construction production and specifically building construction (0.6% YoY) were positive for the first time since January 2024 and December 2023 respectively.
