German employment was virtually unchanged in June 2025, with the number of employed residents holding at 45.9 million and showing no meaningful change MoM or YoY.
- Seasonally adjusted employment declined slightly by -20k MoM, following a similar -18k drop in May.
- Unadjusted employment fell -4k MoM, compared to an average June increase of +41k from 2022–2024.
- Employment in Q2 2025 was basically flat QoQ at 46.0 million (SA), down -7k from Q1.

The German unemployment rate (given by Destatis) was 3.5% in January, unchanged from December.
- Employment was flat month over month (or -9k) and down -0.1% YoY (or -37k).
- The total number of unemployed was 1.68 million, up 19.3% YoY or up 271,000. Over the month, the number of unemployed increased by 9k.

Based on the German Federal Statistical Office, employment was stable in December and fell -0.3% MoM when not seasonally adjusted. Over the last year, employment fell -0.1% YoY and the number of unemployed increased 129k (or 9.9% YoY) to 1.44 million. The unemployment rate ended the year at 3.2%, a 0.3 ppt increase from a year ago.

German employment was up 0.1% MoM or 24,000 in November. Total unemployment after adjusted for seasonal and irregular effects was 1.52 million, a small drop of -2k from October. The adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.4%.
