  • Brazil’s GDP grew 0.4% QoQ (vs 0.3% QoQ expected) in Q2 2025, slowing from previous quarters but still reaching a record level, while on a YoY basis output rose 2.2%, supported by strong gains in agriculture and services.

    • By sector (QoQ): Services expanded 0.6%, led by financial services (+2.1%), information & communication (+1.2%), and transport (+1.0%), offsetting declines in public administration (-0.4%). Industry rose 0.5% on mining (+5.4%), while manufacturing (-0.5%), construction (-0.2%), and utilities (-2.7%) contracted. Agriculture edged down -0.1%.

    • By demand (QoQ): Household consumption increased 0.5%, sustained by wage growth and transfers; government consumption fell -0.6%, and investment declined -2.2%, reflecting tighter credit conditions. Exports rose 0.7% while imports dropped -2.9%, providing a net trade boost.

    • YoY comparison: GDP was up 2.2% vs Q2 2024, with agriculture surging 10.1% on record soybean and corn harvests, industry expanding 1.1% (mining +8.7%), and services +2.0% (information & communication +6.4%, finance +3.8%).

    • Demand side YoY: Household consumption grew 1.8% on stronger real wages and credit; investment rose 4.1% on capital goods imports and software; government consumption increased slightly (+0.4%). Exports grew 2.0%, led by autos, oil & gas, and metallurgy, while imports climbed 4.4% on chemicals, machinery, and pharmaceuticals.

    • Cumulative trend: GDP is up 2.5% in H1 2025 and 3.2% on a four-quarter rolling basis, marking the highest levels since records began in 1996.
